Mexican Summer

Mexican Summer is the first track produced for my two-piece band Toy Collar. We worked with producer and friend Dani Bonventre on the track, it was a great experience to work in a professional environment alongside somebody capable of getting the best from us. My favourite part about the project was taking the raw live version of the song and constructing a thick, multi-layered piece. All of us were really happy with the track, I in particular think that it really reflects what I was trying to accomplish with the song – a dazed protagonist with a raw edge.

Mexican Summer

Lyrics

Felt like a summer in Mexico
I’m so fucked there’s not a thing that I don’t know
Breathe it in and just take it slow
A heart attack and the signs begin to showYou drew this out on paper maps and paper lines
And I got left behind
A car crash, a lit match
It’s getting hard to find
A trace of you, I trace the view inside my mind
A paper map of me to leave behindWatch her leave as the car grew small
This place is fucking dead and I don’t care at all
I’m full of hate and I start to fall
I catch a break she won’t remember me at allYou drew this out on paper maps and paper lines
And I got left behind
A car crash, a lit match
It’s getting hard to find
A trace of you, I trace the view inside my mind
A paper map of me to leave behindYou drew this out on paper maps and paper lines
And I got left behind
A car crash, a lit match
It’s getting hard to find
A trace of you, I trace the view inside my mind
A paper map of me to leave behind
